Preparation Instructions:
For the first step in this recipe you will need to wash and rinse your cucumbers under cool running tap water. Next peel them and then cut them in half lengthways. Moving along, next deseed the cucumbers, then cut them in half crossways. Next take out a saucepan, fill it with water, then bring the water to a boil over medium high heat. Once a rolling boil has been achieved, place your cucumber pieces into the water, cover, then cook for five minutes until the veggies are tender. Once the cucumbers have finished cooking, drain the water from the saucepan, and then place the vegetables in a heated dish. Next take out a fresh saucepan, and then add in the butter, cooking it over medium heat. Once the butter has melted and starts to become bubbly, add in the all purpose flour and mix it in thoroughly. Next pour in the orange juice and steadily stir the mixture until it starts to thicken. After the sauce has been left to simmer for two additional minutes, stir in the salt, pepper, and orange zest. Once these new ingredients have been thoroughly mixed into the sauce, pour it over the cucumbers and serve them immediately. Obviously you can regulate the thickness of your sauce by adding in more or less orange juice. We hope you have enjoyed this recipe.
